letter 23: let's just be ourselves this year, okay?
hey boo,
how’s it going? enjoying your year so far? I hope so!
today marks the first week of 2023 where it is no longer collectively acceptable to float on last years “let’s touch base in the new year” excuse and it’s actually time to…touch base. with that said, i’m thinking about how to prioritize myself and my rest, while also coming to terms with the fact that I’ve actually got things to do and goals to accomplish.
this year I want to mostly focus on expanding this newsletter, my podcast, and my writing. to do that i’m going to have to be strategic with how I communicate online to carve out some digital space so I can spread the word about what i’m up to. in thinking about how I want to do that I decided that i’m going to revert back to 2012 and use social media as a way to actually have fun. i’ve oftentimes felt overwhelmed by the idea of having to map out intense content days and become a hyper-curated creator as a way to be in the mix, which inspired me to ditch wanting to be active online at all most of 2022, but in the context of not taking it *so* serious and using it as a way to play, I’m game!
if you’re anything like me and have slowly built a general attitude that "social media isn’t fun anymore” maybe that’s a sign that we’re meant to be the people that change it. let’s subvert the algorithms, perfectly designed grids, photoshopped pics, and just be ourselves. authenticity is what so many of us are yearning to witness online; people just being their weird quirky selves, so why don’t we just embody it and make the internet a fun place to be again?
know what I mean, jellybean? (that was cringe but funny/cute, right?) 🫣
wishing you wellness,
Cat, a gal tryin’ her best
