letter 20: we don't need frills, we just need you
hi angels,
how’s that heart of yours feeling? i hope you’re really good. if you’re not, please remember that you won’t be in this experience forever. keep holding on, okay?
lately i’ve been thinking about something I was reminded of by one of my best friends (hi D!!) earlier this summer as I prepared to move to Mexico City. weeks before taking off, I was convinced that I needed to completely reset my wardrobe and look as fly as possible as a way to *really* enter this new life experience on a high note. I was talking about this out loud to which my friend responded with “you don’t need new clothes, just go to Mexico and be you. that’ll be enough.”.
i’ve been thinking about this lately because…she was right.
having nice things isn’t what makes people want to spend time with you. and, if it does…those people aren’t actually seeing you and its worth reconsidering the depth of the connection.
i’ve been meeting amazing folks out here in cdmx and as it turns out, part of what sustains our connections is related to the energy I carry, what I stand for, and the essence of my being. i’ve been tapping into the part of me that thought being me wouldn’t be enough to live in alignment and i’m sad for her. I know why she learned to think that way, but that way of operating has no more room to fester within my new life.
I am enough as I am.
you are enough as you are.
take this letter as a reminder that you being you is what counts. more than anything people are trying to find their soul family, and the things you have will never be able to replace the way you make people feel. in other words, we don’t need fills, we just need you. please take this in stride.
take up more space/allow yourself to be seen/walk with the assuredness of someone who knows how powerful their light is.
these are the ways you’ll brighten up the world around you and attract your people.
